President’s Letter May 2011
As your newly elected FPCRA President, I am honored by the support and trust you have shown in allowing me to lead this great organization. I started with Florida Power Corporation in 1973 at the age of 22. I grew up while working at the company and I learned what it meant to work in the family environment of our legacy. I was fortunate to work in Payroll, Trust Administration, Purchasing and Employee Benefits where I was able to meet and interact with many employees over my 32-year career. I feel as though I know so many of you because my work assignments touched so many employees, retirees and their family members over the years.

Where this association is heading is to be determined. There is a growing trend throughout the country in that many fraternal and social organizations are disappearing. It’s a sign of the times. Our February 2011 installation of FPCRA officers was historic. For the first time, our association did not have a candidate for President-Elect. At the February 2011 FPCRA board meeting, a motion was made and approved to establish a sub-committee of board members to take a look at the feasibility of continuing this organization into 2012 and beyond.

The committee, known as the Transition/Dissolution Committee, is charged with making a formal recommendation to the full board by May 2011 as to the future of the organization. The sub-committee is made up of the following seven members: Terry Renninger – Chair; Dennis Tindall, Gardner Harshman, Alex Novakoski, Sam D’Avico, Al Stephenson, and Marybeth Showerman.

Your opinions matter so we need to hear from you either directly or via your breakfast/lunch bunch leaders. Our committee members will be contacting each area leader over the next couple of months. The committee members welcome your comments, support and suggestions.

Regardless of the outcome of this committee’s action, there will still be ongoing informal social activities among the retirees in various locations because we are still a family of people who care about one another and our history. We will keep you informed throughout the year. Please continue to support your FPCRA in 2011 as we will continue with the many activities we’ve planned for you. Sincerely, Terry Renninger
